Using many of the same radars and sensors as the Blind Spot Information System (BSI), Honda’s Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM) acts as another set of eyes for Iowa drivers when their vehicle is in reverse.
Similar to the driver-assist technologies found in the Honda Sensing® suite, the Cross Traffic Monitor is meant to enhance driver awareness while backing up the vehicle. Using sensors in the rear bumper, the driver will receive both visual and audible alerts if the CTM detects the presence of an oncoming vehicle from either side. The system may also warn you of cyclists, pedestrians, and stationary objects.
If the Cross Traffic Monitor detects a vehicle approaching from a rear corner, it will alert the driver with a displayed warning and buzzer when the following criteria is met:
Of course, like any driver-assist feature, the Cross Traffic Monitor will not detect vehicles in every instance and should not be used instead of visual confirmation. If a vehicle is moving directly behind your Honda the system will not recognize it. Additionally, the CTM will not provide alerts for vehicles that are moving away from your Honda.
The staff at Vern Eide Honda Sioux City has made it easy for Iowa drivers to turn on/off the Cross Traffic Monitor with a few, easy steps. Simply follow the directions below to enable/disable the system.
You can also turn on/off the Cross Traffic Monitor via the Display Audio touchscreen by pressing the CTM icon (a car with >> << underneath it).
